If you are interested in a position that requires the service of alcohol in Louisiana, you must attend an approved server training class and receive a Responsible Vendor/Server Permit (or bar card) issued by the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control. ServSafe Alcohol equips you with the knowledge, confidence and tools to serve alcohol successfully and responsibly as part of the total service experience you provide to your guests.
Servers must obtain a permit within 45 days from date of hire. Server Permits are valid for four years anywhere in Louisiana unless suspended or revoked. When working, servers must carry permit with one legal picture identification.
